What Benefits Does Double Glazing Provide?

Double glazing utilize two separate pieces of glass, separated by a vacuum. The vacuum layer acts as an insulative barrier. When double glazing is retrofitted to an existing window installation, the thermal efficiency can be improved by up to 80%. Factory made double glazed doors can be up to 100% more efficient than a single glazed equivalent.

The most obvious benefit to be gained from double glazing, is the increase in energy efficiency. This means that it will be easier to maintain the temperature inside your home. This is especially beneficial to families with air conditioners, or central climate control systems.

An example would be a home that is using a split type air conditioner/heat pump to warm a living room during winter. Without double glazing, the warmth inside is easily lost. This means that the indoor unit is forced to work harder to maintain a comfortable temperature in the room. With double glazing, heat loss can be reduced by half in optimal conditions.

High-performance insulation

To give your new garden building better thermal insulation properties, we provide 25mm insulation boards, laths and fixings to insulate your cabin floor.

For the roof, we have chosen a 25mm insulation board, 12mm OSB boards, and an 18x70 lath mounted on the roof’s perimeter.

Proper insulation helps make a seasonal building as a garden room usable throughout the year. This is a must for garden offices, annexes, or other rooms that need to be used beyond the summer.

Our garden buildings and saunas have no roof covering material included as standard. But you can choose a roof covering of your preference and add it to your shopping cart!

Right now we have two roof covering options available for flat rooves. The extra-strong bitumen roofing felt is a cost-effective and durable solution that helps keep the main construction dry and safe from rotting.

The EPDM roof is an extremely durable synthetic rubber roofing membrane that is used as a covering for flat and sloped roof buildings around the world.

If you choose not to buy a roof covering from us, we strongly advise you to cover the roof with any other material of your preference, because the wooden roof boards by themselves are not enough to keep your garden building safe and keep the warranty valid.

ProBase is a cost-effective alternative to a concrete base and can be assembled by yourself.

It is a plastic grid system that is designed to carry a vertical load without filling the spaces with gravel and can comfortably withstand the load of a garden building.
